Islamabad: couple of days before Pakistan and China have agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation in the fields of information technology (IT), digital economy, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI). According to a statement released on Monday by Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met with Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja to discuss avenues for advancing digital collaboration between the two nations.
During the meeting, both sides explored ways to enhance Pakistan’s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) capabilities with Chinese support. Detailed discussions were held on promoting exchange programs and training opportunities, as well as fostering collaboration in cloud computing and AI to realize the vision of a "Digital Pakistan." The talks also covered the promotion of e-governance and smart cities in Pakistan, alongside opportunities for Pakistani students to pursue degree programs in AI and data science in China.
The two countries exchanged views on training cooperation in ICT, AI, and digital governance. Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized the promotion of digital development and modern technology under the vision of Pakistan’s Prime Minister. She highlighted that Pakistan aims to benefit from China’s expertise in digital transformation. Both sides agreed to deepen collaboration in technology and the digital economy.
The Chinese Ambassador assured full support for Pakistan’s digital development initiatives, signaling a strong commitment to furthering this partnership.
