Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan Jiang Zaidong visited Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and met with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to exchange views on strengthening local cooperation and enhancing security. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Industrial Affairs Karim Khan, Brigadier General Hamid of the Pakistani Army, and Minister Counselor Yang Guangyuan, Counselor Wang Shengjie, and Director Sun Mingji of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan attended.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said that China-Pakistan friendly cooperation is aimed at all parts of Pakistan and benefits all Pakistani people. We are willing to promote cooperation between relevant Chinese places and KP Province to help economic development, improve social livelihood, and promote regional trade. The Ambassador hoped that KP Province will provide a reliable and safe environment and a good business environment for Chinese personnel and enterprises.
CM Ali Amin Gandapur highly praised China's development achievements and the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan, and hoped that the two sides would strengthen cooperation in the fields of mining, agriculture, new energy and people's livelihood, and said that KP Province will do its utmost to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and projects.
The Chief Minister highlighted vast opportunities in energy and mining. He assured full government support for Chinese investors. The provincial government is working to provide cheap electricity to industries. Several hydropower projects under construction will generate 800 megawatts by 2028. A new transmission line will ensure lower energy costs.
Gandapur emphasised the government’s focus on clean and green energy. He announced a plan to provide solar systems to 130,000 households. All government buildings will also shift to solar power. To manage mineral resources efficiently, the government has launched a special mining company. Gandapur stated that provincial revenue has increased by 55% in the past year. He also highlighted social welfare initiatives. The government is providing free medical treatment to all residents. A new life insurance scheme is in progress.
To support young entrepreneurs, the government has allocated Rs 15 billion in interest-free loans. Another Rs 4 billion will promote homestay tourism. Two new schemes will provide monthly stipends to widows and orphans. The private sector is also expanding to create more jobs. Food security remains a priority. The government is constructing CRBC and small dams. It seeks Chinese expertise to modernize agriculture.
Ambassador Jiang Zedong praised these initiatives. He assured increased Chinese cooperation in multiple sectors. He commended the province’s welfare projects and revenue growth.
